Haskett Court was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and is deemed significant as one of the finest remaining examples of a 1920’s bungalow court in Pasadena. Designed by architect Charles Ruhe for W.B. Haskett, the bungalow court is unique in that it was a compromise between the traditional single-family residence and the more dense multi-family apartment buildings. Haskett Court provided the amenities of single-family living, such as individualized design, garden space, and privacy, with the advantages of a multi-family apartment complex: lower cost and community living. The Haskett family continued to own and live in the bungalow court until the early 1980s when it was converted to commercial use. In late 2007, HHP acquired Haskett Court with the intent to convert the units back to residential use and sell them to first-time, low- and moderate-income homebuyers. Rehabilitation is complete, with care taken to preserve the historic elements of each of these unique bungalows. Click HERE for more photos of Haskett Court. |
